I am so glad you landed here, because October is my most favorite month and whether you quit drinking years ago or you’re stepping into Sober October for the very first time this year – this month is so magical. And it deserves more than just white-knuckling through it. It deserves a full cozy season aesthetic, a warm mug of something delicious, and a shopping cart full of things that make your alcohol-free October feel like the soft, spooky, pumpkin-spiced experience it absolutely can be.
But for starters, what exactly is Sober October? Well, Sober October is a month-long alcohol-free challenge that encourages people to take a break from drinking throughout October. For some, it’s a reset. For others, it’s a chance to see what changes when alcohol is no longer part of their daily routine.
For women who are already sober or alcohol-free, Sober October can be less about “giving something up” and more about leaning into everything you get back – cozy mornings, better sleep, fully present weekends, creative energy, and evenings that actually feel like yours.
If this is your first October without alcohol, you don’t need to make the month perfect. You don’t need to prove anything. You don’t need to become the world’s most interesting sober person overnight.
You just need to give yourself enough alternatives that you don’t feel like your life got smaller when alcohol left it.
That’s what this list is really about.
You’re not replacing wine with candles.
You’re building a life where you actually want the candle.
Now, I haven’t experienced a real fall in ten years. San Diego Octobers are basically a cruel joke – 85 degrees, Santa Ana winds, and everyone pretending it’s spooky season while sweating through their flannels. So this year, my first October on the east coast, with actual leaves and actual crisp air and an actual reason to own a chunky knit, feels less like a season change and more like a standing ovation. Nine years sober. Ten years without fall. And this year I get both at the same time.
Sober October isn’t just a challenge. It’s an invitation to build the most intentional, most indulgent, most fully-present month of your year.
So ladies, here is your complete cozy season starter kit – six categories, zero guilt, everything you need to make this the October something you wait ALL year for.

And now that you know what you’re going to do, here’s what you need to make those plans even better…
October called and it wants your living room to look like a Pinterest board and smell like a Gilmore Girls episode. Here’s why this matters more than it sounds: your space is where your sober life actually lives. The evenings that used to belong to wine now belong to you, to the candle you light at 7pm, the throw you wrap around yourself, the nostalgic smell of fall that signals your nervous system to exhale. Your home should feel like a reward for the life you’ve built, and October is the absolute best month to make that happen.
Start with the candles – Autumn Leaves, Pumpkin Spice- because scent is the fastest way to make a space feel intentional and October-fied in a way that hits every single time you walk through the door. Layer in a chunky knit throw for the couch, an essential oil diffuser with fall blends for the bedroom, and a set of taper candles for the dinner table, because dinner by candlelight is one of those small luxuries that feels enormous when you’re actually present enough to enjoy it. Finish with some plush pumpkins on the couch and oversized spooky mugs that make every morning feel ceremonial, and your space is ready. →SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE
Former night owl here… turns out I wasn’t a night owl at all. I was just insanely hungover every morning. October mornings sober? Undefeated. There is something about a crisp fall morning with a hot coffee in your hands and absolutely no dread in your chest that feels like the universe finally delivering on a promise it made you a long time ago, and I want you to have the full setup to match that feeling.
The ritual matters as much as the products, which means a Nespresso java instead of a rushed drip machine, a fall roast coffee that smells like the season before you’ve even brewed it, and a pumpkin spice syrup worth putting in your mug (the fancy kind, not the gas station kind, we have standards). Add a quality robe for the slow hour before the day starts and an insulated mug for the outdoor morning walk that October basically demands, and you have a morning ritual that makes getting out of bed feel less like an obligation and more like a gift you give yourself every single day. → SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE
If you haven’t read my full sober morning routine guide yet, that is your homework before October starts.
Haunted hayrides. Corn mazes. Pumpkin patches at golden hour. Apple picking with your people. October is not a month you observe from your couch..it is a month you show up for fully, and showing up fully means being prepared enough that the experience feels elevated instead of like something you’re just surviving.
A good daypack makes apple picking and hiking feel intentional instead of chaotic. A quality thermos means you arrive at the corn maze with hot cider already in hand like the prepared, extremely cool person you are. A cozy beanie and gloves set means you actually feel the season on your skin instead of rushing through it because you’re underdressed. And for the bonfire nights – a card game, an outdoor blanket, a headlamp for the haunted trail walk that someone is inevitably going to suggest – these are the things that turn a nice evening into a genuinely great memory that you will actually remember in the morning. → SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE
Remember when wine o’clock used to be the highlight of your evening? GIRL. We have been upgraded. Welcome to your new 8pm: a bath that smells like heaven, a face mask doing something genuinely good for your skin, and sleep that makes you wake up the next morning looking like you have an expensive skincare routine. You do. It’s called sobriety, and it deserves to be celebrated with the full soft girl treatment this Sober October.
A fall bath set – Epsom salts, bath oils, a good scrub – turns a Tuesday night into a whole event and costs about the same as a glass of wine used to. A jade roller or gua sha for the evening wind-down, clean beauty staples like a good face mask and skin boosting serum, fluffy socks and slippers that you wear without apology – these are the things that fill the evening hours in a way that actually restores you instead of depleting you. Finish with a silk pillowcase and a lavender pillow mist, because sober sleep is one of the greatest gifts of this lifestyle and your Sober October evenings should end in it every single night. → SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE]
PSA: your Sober October drink does not have to be a sad soda water with a lime wedge and a quiet sense of resignation. It can be a spiced apple cider in a fancy glass with a cinnamon rim and everyone at the party asking what you’re drinking. The presentation, the glassware, the intentionality of making yourself a real drink – these things matter because they signal to your brain and everyone around you that you are not missing out. You are choosing something better.
Stock your autumn bar with spiced apple cider that tastes like October in a glass, a cocktail shaker and garnish kit for the mocktail making that is genuinely more fun than it sounds, NA wine for the dinner table moments that call for something in a wine glass, and a set of coupe or wine glasses because your drinks deserve the same presentation as everyone else’s. → SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE
You got your evenings back when you quit drinking, and Sober October evenings are the crown jewel of that gift. The wind outside, the candle lit, the book in your lap, no obligation to be anywhere or explain yourself to anyone – these hours are yours now, and they are some of the most extraordinary hours in the entire year if you set them up right.
A book stand and reading light makes the reading era you are absolutely living in feel properly supported. A weighted blanket for the couch, a cozy atmospheric fiction read that matches the season, a dedicated reading candle that only gets lit during these hours, a nice tea set with a fall sampler – chai, cinnamon spice, something that smells like a hug – and blue light glasses for the evenings when you’re on your phone or laptop. These are the tools that make your October evenings feel intentional and restorative instead of like time you’re just killing until bed. → SEE THE FULL COLLECTION HERE
Nine years sober. Ten years without a real fall. This October I have both, and I am not taking a single crisp morning or golden afternoon or candlelit evening for granted.
Whether this is your first Sober October or your tenth, this month gets to be yours – fully, intentionally, without apology. Not just surviving it. Actually building something beautiful inside it. The cozy aesthetic, the slow mornings, the candlelit evenings, the drinks that look just as good in the glass as everyone else’s – all of it is available to you, and none of it requires a single drop of alcohol to feel like a celebration.
